Ford is scheduling the 2027 F-150 model year this week. There are updates to engines, appearance, paint, options, and packages. Below, we break down what's new, what's been discontinued, and how we expect demand to shift so you can plan your orders accordingly.

Engines

The 3.0L EcoBoost is replacing 2.7L EcoBoost. We anticipate demand for the 3.0L EcoBoost to remain similar to demand for the 2.7L EcoBoost.

The 3.5L EcoBoost is now the Max Discount Engine on XLT.

And, the 5.0L V8 is coming back as optional on King Ranch and Platinum.  The last time we could get 5.0L on King Ranch and Platinum was in the 2023 model year.

Appearance Updates

XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum all get updated grilles and wheel designs. New wheel options include 18-inch bright painted and 20-inch black wheels on XLT and Lariat, plus 22-inch black wheels with bright inserts on King Ranch and Platinum. You can see all of the new designs in the Order Guide. Check out our Order Guide article here.

Paint

Birch Sand is new and is a darker version of Desert Sand.

Neptune Blue replaces Argon Blue and Antimatter Blue.

Wild Green Tinted Clearcoat is a more traditional green.

Avalanche is gone in 2027, as it is for 2027 Super Duty.

King Ranch can now be mono-color, no longer requiring two-tone trim colors. This is similar to Super Duty and will likely be a popular configuration.

Other 2027 F-150 Changes and Packages

This will be the last model year for SuperCab F-150s. They will be unavailable in the 2028 model year.

The new Carhartt Package will be available starting Job 2. Ford hasn't released specific details, but we expect upgraded wheels, styling, and interior like the Carhartt Package on Super Duty.

Keeping up with model year changeovers on F-150 is a lot of work. Knowing what to order when engines, paint colors, and packages shift is tough when you don't know how they're going to sell. That's where Precision Inventory Management comes in. We anticipate model year changeovers and predict which configurations will sell well and which will not. We watch the data as the model year goes on, making sure our dealers continue to get the hottest units — from model year changeovers and beyond.
