SIMS units are seldom good for your dealership. A bad SIMS unit can sit for 200+ days, eating into your allocation and your bottom line. That’s because Ford doesn’t configure SIMS units for your market’s needs—Ford configures SIMS to what’s easiest for the plant.

The best way to avoid the headache of bad SIMS units is to keep your order bank clean. Changing priority codes to 99 and ‘dirtying’ SIMS ensures your allocation is what your dealership needs, not what Ford needs.

How to Manage Weekly Non-OTD SIMS Orders (USA Dealers)

F-150, Super Duty, Bronco: Set SIMS orders to priority code 99. After scheduling, Ford automatically clears them.

Transit: Add C0L to orders in CONCEPS to make Transit SIMS incompatible and prevent scheduling. Ford will remove them automatically post-scheduling.

At this point, you probably have enough orders in the order bank to cover your allocation. If not, you should input new orders that align with your allocation and inventory needs. Then focus on managing those orders moving forward.

How to Manage Weekly Non-OTD SIMS Orders (Canada Dealers)

Bronco, F-150 & Transit: For Bronco, F-150, and Transit, there are two types of allocation—regular allocation and Raptor allocation or eTransit allocation respectively. When you don’t have Raptor allocation, you can switch all the F-150 and Bronco SIMS to Raptors to avoid scheduling them. When you don’t have eTransit allocation, you can switch all the Transit SIMS to eTransit to avoid scheduling them.

Note: You may need to update order numbers to make all your SIMS orders Raptors. When a recommended order’s order number changes, Ford won't auto-delete it afterward. You can however mass-delete them in WBDO by navigating to the Dealer Altered Recommendations section the following week and deleting them.

Super Duty: Super Duties are a bit more complicated. Sometimes there is not a good solution to manage them other than changing them to what you want—but in some cases, you can “dirty” them. For example, there are some months when Tonneau Cover is retail only. If you put Tonneau Cover on all your stock SIMS, they will not schedule. You can find this information in the scheduling notes and wholesale commodity guides.

At this point, you probably have enough orders in the order bank to cover your allocation. If not, you should input new orders that align with your allocation and inventory needs. Then focus on managing those orders moving forward.

Why a Clean Order Bank Matters

Prevent unwanted scheduling: If your order bank is overloaded, Ford’s system may schedule the easiest builds instead of the ones you truly need.

Save time: Creating a new order is far easier than constantly modifying SIMS orders.

Reduce mistakes: SIMS orders may have low demand options that can be easy to overlook. Inputting a new order in WBDO will create an order without any options. You can then add options as you build out. This is more accurate and faster than removing options on an already existing SIMS order.
